STORY HOUR

Story Hour happens every Tuesday at 10:15 am, for 3–5 year olds. Story Hour follows the New Hartford School System calendar from September to May. There is no Story Hour when school is closed due to inclement weather.  Please call the Library at 482.8806 for day and time.

NUTMEG CRITICS' CORNER

The Nutmeg Children's Book Award encourages children in grades 4–6 to read quality literature and to choose their favorite from a list of ten nominated titles. Jointly sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association (CLA) and the Connecticut Educational Media Association (CEMA), the Nutmeg Committee is comprised of children's librarians, school library media specialists and teachers.

The Bakerville Library makes sure to have available all the nominated books each year.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM

The summer reading program is sponsored by the Friends of the Bakerville Library. Children of any age may participate.

  • First visit the library and pick up a Summer Reading Journal.
  • Then read or listen to at least 10 books over the summer, recording the titles read in the journal.
  • Visit the library at least three times during the summer and have your journal stamped by one of the librarians.

At the end of the summer, participants will get a paperback book of their choice, a free kids’ meal at Applebees, and a certificate for a kiddie-sized cone at Hogie’s Sweet Shoppe, 280 Main St., New Hartford (next to Bobby Dee’s), or 6 Willow St., Winsted.
